My name is Joe Tremper. I’m a percussionist, educator, and composer based out of the greater Philadelphia area.

I’m currently available for marching percussion arranging consultations for Fall 2025.

I’m based in the greater Philadelphia area, but am likely between there and my hometown of Tampa, FL.

While working at the University of Delaware under mentors like Jim Ancona, I’ve been working to marry the ideas of composition and pedagogy. Over time, I became more fascinated with the opportunity of delivering high level education to young percussionists through the vehicle of their marching percussion music.

Educator

I spend my summers alternating time between teaching with the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps and high school summer camps hosted by the University of South Florida, my alma mater. During the school year, I teach at the University of Delaware, working with the front ensemble, teaching private lessons, and leading chamber groups. I also teach the front ensemble at United Percussion during the winter.

Performer

I’ve been featured as a soloist for several ensembles, as well as a section percussionist in university and professional large ensembles alike. I have performance experience extending well beyond the classical percussion canon, including drumset, steel pan, Brazilian samba, Arabic percussion, Latin hand drumming, and more.

Today, I write and teach for a variety of levels of marching percussion sections and am a frequent consultant at ensembles across the country. I’m also pursuing my master’s of music, to be completed in 2025.

Joe proudly endorses Vic Firth sticks and mallets and Zildjian cymbals.
